Upside Down Font Generator
An upside down font is really a sequence of Unicode characters, so it travels with the text.
A real font only changes how installed software draws a letter. Text made with this page changes the characters themselves, which is why it keeps working on sites that never let you choose a font.
What happens when you flip
- The order of the characters is reversed, because turning a line of text round by 180 degrees puts the last letter first.
- Each character is replaced by the one that looks like it turned half a revolution, for example a becomes ɐ and t becomes ʇ.
- Spaces, and any letter with no flipped form, are kept.
Three styles from one input
The generator shows three results for any text: the letters flipped but left in the original order, the letters flipped and the order reversed (the one that reads correctly when you turn your screen), and plain reversed text with no flipped letters. For example, hello gives ɥǝllo in the first style, ollǝɥ in the second and olleh in the third.
Limits
Screen readers will read the symbols one by one, search will not match them with normal words, and a few characters (see the letters and numbers pages) may show a box on older systems. Use it for names and decoration.
